Our mission is to improve the quality of life of Asthma sufferers and their families through education and sensitisation on the treatment and control of Asthma which will in turn, reduce the prevalence, morbidity and mortality rate of Asthma in Barbados.

World Asthma Day

World Asthma Day (WAD is an annual event organised by The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to improve Asthma awareness and care around the world. GINA was launched in 1993 in collaboration with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA and The World Health Organisation. WAD is celebrated worldwide on the first Tuesday in May annually.

WAD was established in 1998. The first event was set to coincide with the 1st World Asthma Meeting (WAM) in Barcelona, Spain. Over 35 countries were involved. Over time, WAD has grown and is widely recognised as the world’s most important Asthma awareness event.

The Asthma Association of Barbados is planning to hold a Workshop for doctors, nurses, and its members on this day.
